1966 Ford Mustang

For the 1966 Ford Mustang, there was little changed to the cosmetic appearance of the previous year's model. The most noticeable adjustments were found in the side scoops, the front grill, and the gas cap. On the interior, the instrument panel went through a slight redesign, with a new type inserted that was made specifically for the Mustang whereas previous panels were used in multiple Ford vehicles. The 1961 model was offered with three different types of transmissions, a four speed manual and a three speed manual and automatic. As for the engine, there was a lot of variation between the 4 different engines that could be found on the car. The most powerful, and incidentally the most popular, was a V8 with 289 cubic inches that generated up to 306 horsepower. It is this model of engine that is sought by current collectors. Another V8 was also produced, with 260 cubic inches and 164 horsepower. The Sprint 200 model was completed with an inline 6 cylinder engine with 120 horsepower. The least powerful engine was also an inline 6, but with a horsepower of 101. The Ford Mustang was considered to be one of the most popular models ever introduced by the Ford Motor Company. The 1966 versions are some of the more collectible models, with many industry experts stating that the car has retained much value over the years and that the timeless appearance has made the sporty car a classic. While they did not have the same sales figures as the 1965 introduction model, the 1966 Mustang still sold over 600,000 units. One of the reasons that so many models were sold was the low price tag attached to the car, with most models being available for under $3000. The popularity and appreciation of the 1966 Mustang has only grown with time and a new generation of car enthusiasts have embraced the vehicle as much as the original owners.
